I was put off by the 2000 the first time I tried one. Its a continuation of where the 5000 started but even more so on the computer side of things I guess. Yeah I dont think the workflow is very different, except for the fact that Im browsing my Mac for samples instead of a floppy disk or flash card. Thats why I want the big bad God MPC the 4000, but that thing was left unfinished as it is when Akai went under for the second time (THANKS NATIVE INSTRUMENTS).

The 5000 has the exact same specs and features I have in the Live, the ones on the 2500/1000/500 were cut down, or rather weren't developed yet as the 5000 came way later. I should probably just get a Live and stick with where Im at (the thing fucking rules by the way Im leaving my Mac for one too) but man I can grab a 1000 for about $3-400 any day of the week here and just get going.ĭoes the JJOS do anything for the actual sampler in the 1000? If you compare the sampler engine in all of the Nukai models, they all got shit except for the 5000, and even that one SUCKS compared to the Z sampler the 4000 had in it. The one thing I noticed the other night comparing the 10 was the 1000 didnt have the grid editor the 2500 did, but this was comparing the Akai OS. I wouldn't doubt that all they did was port the 5000 OS to Linux and start from there. The specs on the 5000 are literally almost exactly what went into the Live/X/Software aside from the modern storage and computer integration side of it. In order to stay at most of the level of functionality Im at with the Studio/software I need at least the 5000 or the 4000. Im still on the fence about moving from the Studio to the Live, or going 'cheaper' and getting a 1000/2500/5000/4000 instead. Oooooo I didnt think to look at the JJOS features. With regards to #2, if the backing track were only 4 minutes, simply one stereo sample, assigned to one pad.The new MPC is probably the most amazing thing Ive worked with since seeing my first sequencer and DAW ages ago hah. Song? yes, as long as you're within the sample length limit, and note limit (which is pretty large).Thank you! I've been trying to get info about this from anybody on here for days.

Where the MPC wins is in midi sequencing & drum machine duties.Ģ/ not while playing the audio, but yes, you can assign 64 samples (or 64 groups of up to 4 simultaneous samples) to the 64 pads - that's 4 pages of 16 pads - which corresponds to the 63 keys of a 63 key keyboard (give or take one!) with the maximum 128 mb RAM installed, it'll play about 12 minutes of audio.
